MNAE #7

MNAE October

This month we’re hosting several members of the After Effects team from Adobe, including Victoria Nece, After Effects Product Manager. This is your chance to meet some of the team! You’ll also hear about what’s coming up in the Beta releases, talk about the upcoming Adobe MAX conference, and ask some of your own questions!

Join us on Thursday October 21st!

Please fill out this survey to let us know your experience with After Effects and any questions you might want to ask ahead of time.

1-Year Creative Cloud Giveaway!

We have another huge giveaway! Come to the October meetup and be entered to win 1 year of Creative cloud! You must have a non-enterprise Adobe account and be present at the meetup to win.

Adobe MAX

The annual Adobe MAX conference is coming up October 26-28. It’s once again free and virtual this year! Headliners include Chloé Zhao, Tilda Swinton, and Kenan Thompson. Session speakers are too numerous to even list. You can take a look at the full lineup and filter by After Effects, Motion Design, or other categories to see who’s speaking.

Many sessions are available on-demand for up to a year after they stream. But some keynote speakers and special events are only available live or only during the event. Check out the session schedule and register today!

Effects of After Effects

Ever wondered what you’d really use Minimax for? Never understood CC Ball Action? Colorrama controls never make sense? Take a look at the Effects of After Effects series by Jake Bartlett on YouTube. He’s going through every built-in effect, highlighting how they’re used. Right now he’s up to over 70 effects and counting!

Blender + AE

Working with Blender and AE together is starting to get easier. Ian Pitkannen of Grey Duck studio in Minneapolis shares their workflow using the BlenderAE script available on aescripts ($30). It’s an extensive write up on the ins and outs of the script and process. If you use Blender, or even if you’re just curious, check it out!

November Resource Day

We’re planning a resource day for our November meetup! While links to site and scripts are great, we want to see what you personally have. What are some presets you’ve made and are willing to share? Do you dabble in scripting that you’d be willing to share? Have go-to methods and techniques that other people will find useful? Start gathering all that up! We’ll have a survey to post soon to gauge what people might share. It’ll be a fun night!
