May 2021 Recap: Reimagined Reels

This month we challenged you to take one piece from your first (or earlier) reel and reimagine it with the skills and eye you’ve developed since. This was a lot of fun to see.

Hanna shared her new take on an animation from 2011 originally using Flash, now using a mix of Blender and After Effects. Brian also shared a work-in-progress from an intermission video from 2006 and compared the two. And Todd shared an update to a 2009 Halloween animation he completed a couple years ago (it still counts!). Anna showed off her new (and first) reel featuring some great 2D animation.

Then we had a great conversation about what makes good reels before moving on to some show and tell from various members.
